Hi, I'm Becky Lima-Matthews, and I've been stringing sentences together professionally and personally since 2002. I started in broadcasting before moving into digital content in 2010 – taking scriptwriting skills, research skills, organisational skills and the ability to make an excellent cuppa with me. 

Fast forward to late 2015 when I became a freelance writer, penning copy, content and scripts. Clients book me for one or a combination of disciplines, depending on what they need. Like a word-based pick 'n' mix.

Production experience and video expertise come in handy for writing scripts for campaign films, film treatments and explainer videos, and years spent in education content are pretty useful too. I write educational content for clients including Into Film, and I regularly write features for London Cheapo, Village Raw and Live For Films.

Personal creative projects include writing and directing the short film Double Word Score, which was screened at UK and US festivals and won ‘Best Comedy’ at The Open Door Short Film Showcase 2015. When I’m not busy with all of that, I can often be found at the Ministry of Stories, helping young people to express their creativity as a writing mentor. Working with young writers is great fun and keeps the adult-sized ego in check.

I worked closely with the marketing manager and events team across the event campaign for a tough, three-day bike ride from Liege in Belgium to Guy's Cancer in London. My role was a mix of editorial and campaign copy.

Village Raw: Arts Feature

One of the best things about my job is getting to meet and talk to different people, including very talented artists and creative people like Lisa Marie Price. Writing during the time of Covid-19 meant I couldn't go and visit her studio, but we had a great conversation and her detailed and beautiful artworks are featured in the piece.
